About Tom & Kat

Tom and Kat Hansen got married in 2006, had their daughter Audrey in 2012, and their son Harding in 2014. Tom and Kat discovered Harding had multiple severe heart defects when he was 22 weeks gestation. Harding has undergone three open-heart surgeries, in addition to many other surgeries and procedures. Tom and Kat live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and love going on adventures together. It is their family's mission to raise awareness for CHD families and get them the help and resources they need to live a fulfilling life in the midst of their child's battle with Congenital Heart Disease.

Tom Hansen is a Corporate Trainer and Instructional Designer in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, and received his Master’s Degree in Education at Mt. St. Joseph University. Starting his career as a high school math teacher, Tom has always had a passion for helping individuals learn, grow, and reach their full potential. He is an avid runner, loves the outdoors, and enjoys adventures with his two children and wife Kat.

Kat Hansen is a full-time parent at home, but also works as a part time Coordinator for a local nonprofit. She graduated from Northern Kentucky University with honors, and received her Bachelor’s degree in English. She has volunteered as a Parent Contributor with multiple cardiology-related organizations such as the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and is passionate about making a positive impact. She has specialized skills in leadership, business & creative writing, instruction & public speaking (2nd Place Storyteller of 2017 Story Wars Cincinnati). She enjoys reading, finding any excuse to write, connecting with friends, and living out her dream of raising her two amazing children with her husband in Cincinnati.
